Does the Candida Diet Really Work? My Candida Diary

Follow my story on my quest to determine whether the traditional low carb candida diet really works. Briefly, candida albicans is a type of yeast that lives in our gut. In healthy individuals, it occupies only a small part and brings no symptoms. However, with the Western diet of high sugar and processed foods, antibiotics and stress can cause the yeast to flourish and mutate into the fungal form. Systemic candida can be very dangerous, causing degenerative diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

I have been brought up with high sugar, wheat and gluten. With this, I have suffered many vague and sometimes debilitating symptoms which came on in my mid-twenties: migraines, dry eyes, itchy skin, eczema, hair loss, swollen joints, snuffly nose, sneezing, coated tongue, mood swings, cravings, fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, troublesome periods, bloating, constipation and more.

In a quest for health, I decided to go on a low carb, high fibre diet with probiotics and antifungals. But will this diet work?
